Not all extensions are created equal — but there is one that’s right for you
If you’re researching hair extensions in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Area, you’ve probably already run into a few acronyms and some decision fatigue.
Hand-tied, beaded row, tape-in, K-tip… what does it all mean — and which one will actually give you your dream hair?
Let’s break it down — method by method — so you can walk into your consultation with confidence.
The method: Small beads are placed in rows along your natural hair. Wefts of hair are sewn onto the beads — no tape, glue, or heat required.
Hand-tied hair is a type of weft that can be used in installs but we’ve upgraded to Genius wefts. They’re just as much grams per weft as hand-tied hair extensions, but with less bulk at the top of the weft.
This allows for your extensions to be even more seamless!
Pros:
Best for: Clients looking for a seamless, low-tension option that blends beautifully and lasts 6–8 weeks between move-ups.
The method: Pre-taped wefts are sandwiched around sections of your natural hair.
Pros:
Cons:
Best for: Temporary transformations or clients with medium to thick hair who don’t mind more frequent maintenance.
The method: Individual extensions are fused to small sections of your hair using heat and keratin bonds.
Pros:
Cons:
Best for: Clients with stronger, thicker strands looking for extended wear and super precise placement.
